Over a year ago, my internet provider of many years (idiom.com) was bought by Aerioconnect. Since then, the service has been getting worse and worse. Last week, we were without internet for over 30 ours. Yesterday, it failed again. I have spent far too much of my time recently on the phone with tech support, with very little to show for it. So, I'm in the market for a new internet provider.

We need DSL or better, enough for me to get my Warcraft fix and Teo to watch his Youtube videos. We don't need a static IP. I *think* that currently we have 1.5mbps down / 384kbps up.

Any recommendations? Services to avoid?

I'm considering migrating goblinrevolution.org off of the SunBlade-which-sits-in-the-living-room-with-a-loud-fan and onto a domain/web-hosting provider's servers (yes, I no longer work as a sysadmin, which probably accounts for some of the desire to move).

Does anyone on my friendslist have recommendations? What providers have you been happy with? Unhappy with? Wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole?

I'd be looking for domain hosting, web with perl-cgi, preferably a unix shell to manage things.

Any suggestions?

Costumers all tend to have a specific era or genre that appeals to us aesthetically, which is fine, but sometimes we get too focused and fail to appreciate other eras or genres that might suit our body type,our facial features, or even just challenge us to think outside the box a little bit. While I have occasionally said that I could easily listen to Ian McKellen reading the phone book, I wasn't aware that others shared this interest. Yet, the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich is having a seminar on meteorology on Saturday, in which "Sir Ian McKellen will introduce the day with his famous recital of the Beaufort Windscale."
